"Covered in Song" is a roots acoustic kirtan album based on the Ektar (ancient one string instrument of India). The ektar and sitar combine with traditional African roots rhythms on "Shiva Nago" and "Shiva Ibo" creating a musical fusion of India and Africa. The addition of the dobro adds an appalachian tone, deepening the musical fusion. The songs and inspiration for "Covered in Song" evolved from many late evening journeys alone with the ektar under the stars. Surdas and Vajra offer up so much gratitude to the spirits, artists, and musicians who made this vision possible.
